Inspired by our own family and life experiences, we founded One FamilyLife Home Care.
We are an extended family. Our household consists of my husband and I with our two teenage daughters, together with my mom, my dad, and my mother-in-law. One big family with all the joys and challenges that come with it.
Our parents have multiple chronic diseases, and caring for them has become a full-time task. My husband has done most of the work since his early retirement, attending to their multiple medical appointments, prescription pick-ups, regular grooming trips, medication reminders, and other health and wellness needs. When my dad started Peritoneal Dialysis (PD), my husband got trained on how to perform daily exchanges so he could assist him. I alternate in taking care of them and provide overall supervision.
I am a Registered Nurse with over 20 years of providing nursing care, while my husband has a legal and compliance background. Watching my husband transition from legal work to health care is inspiring. He never complains. He is on top of their appointments and scheduled treatments. Diligent, compassionate, and loving care in action. With humility, he has accepted his new role with compassion, remembering that “whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” (Colossians 3:23 NIV).
